Passiveness

A young Soldier goes up to his supervisor and asks a question. The supervisor is feeling irritable and doesn’t want to deal with the Soldier’s question. However, the passive supervisor unwillingly answers the question anyway, in a very unhappy tone.

Passive-Aggressiveness

A young Soldier goes up to his supervisor and asks a question. The supervisor is feeling irritable and doesn’t want to deal with the Soldier’s question. So the passive-agressive supervisor asks in a sarcastic manner, “So what does the manual say?”

Aggressiveness

A young Soldier goes up to his supervisor and asks a question. The supervisor is feeling irritable and doesn’t want to deal with the Soldier’s question. So the aggressive supervisor shouts, “What kind of stupid question is that? You seriously don’t know?”

Assertiveness

A young Soldier goes up to his supervisor and asks a question. The supervisor is feeling irritable and doesn’t want to deal with the Soldier’s question. So the assertive supervisor says, “I’m having a very bad moment right now. Let me get back with you on that after I have a little time to cool off, or you’re welcome to check out the manual in the second drawer of my desk.”
