Scenarios A & B

Scenario A: Resentment

Whenver Bobbie ran into her co-worker, her co-worker had a tendency of making a short joke. Granted, Bobbie grew up on galzillion short jokes and pretty much embraced them; however, some things done excessively become pretty annnoying. The firs time around, the joke was funny. The second time around, the joke was tolerable. The third time around…the joke was irritating. Bobbie allowed the situation to build up until she could no longer stand the sight of her co-worker, and started avoiding her. This affected her attitude towards coming to work every day as well.

Scenario B: Honesty

Whenver Bobbie ran into her co-worker, her co-worker had a tendency of making a short joke. Granted, Bobbie grew up on galzillion short jokes and pretty much embraced them; however, some things done excessively become pretty annnoying. When Bobbie noticed her feelings about the situation, she decided to say something to her co-worker as tactful as possible, “Hey, I know you’re just joking on a daily basis, but I’m going to be straight-up with you so I don’t end up wanting to avoid you. The first time around, the short joke was funny. The second time around, the joke was tolerable. The third time around…the joke was irritating. How about once a week or so, eh? Wink Wink
