The Response to “God, I’m Scared.”

Knowing-others-is-wisdom-Lao-TzuI believe that our various aspects of our souls communicate with us in our dream state.

Sometimes, the dreams are symbolic (our soul’s unconscious mind using the available and stored data— information, images, feelings, memories, etc.—to communicate with us).

Sometimes, the dreams are reoccurring, which I believe is our soul’s way of repeatedly trying to get our attention on a specific and important matter. And other times, we may experience past lives or parallel lives in our dreams as our multi-dimensional selves.

I started a dream journal a little over two years ago, ever since I noticed I was having a series of vivid and often bizarre dreams. I use dream websites, as well as my own intuition and inner wisdom, to interpret my dreams.

I believe understanding our dreams is just one of many ways we can communicate with our true selves/souls/angelic and spiritual realms/our multi-dimensional selves/our expanded selves/Source/Universe/Multiverse/God/Goddess/All That Is.

Dream Journal: December 1, 2013

Note: The meanings of key words in my dream are in blue, and are from the website; my side notes are in pink; my interpretation of my dream in orange:

I was participating in some activity which started with a 3-5 mile run. I locked my car with an automatic keychain, and then proceeded to join a group with someone next to me (didn’t see who).

To see a key chain in your dream indicates your ability to adapt to most any situations. You fit in with anybody and anywhere.
To dream that you are running with someone signifies cooperation.
Before the run started, I asked someone if they could hold onto my black fleece jacket because I felt hot.
To see or wear a jacket in your dream represents the image that you want to present and project to the outside world. Alternatively, it symbolizes your protective and defensive persona. You tend to distant your feelings and as a result, you may isolate yourself. Consider also the color, appearance, and type of jacket for additional significance.
To see fleece in your dream symbolizes a sense of security.
Black symbolizes the unknown, the unconscious, danger, mystery, darkness, death, mourning, rejection, hate or malice. The color invites you to delve deeper in your unconscious in order to gain a better understanding of yourself. It also signifies a lack of love and lack of support. More positively, black represents potential and possibilities. It is like a clean or blank slate.

To dream that you are hot signifies passion and heated emotions. It may reflect a situation that is potentially dangerous or a relationship where you are getting burned.
I then noticed that I had two more long sleeve shirts underneath and tried to take them off, and someone hollered for me to just keep them on and start running.
If you are wearing inappropriate clothes for a situation, then it means that you are unprepared for the task at hand.
To dream of a shirt refers to your emotions or some emotional situation.  The shirt you wear reveals your attitude and level of consciousness about a particular situation. In particular, if you are wearing a sleeveless shirt in your dream, then it implies that you need to be more aggressive in your approach to a problem, task or situation.

I heard some female complaining about one of my old, high school friends at some point. Note: I was friends with her since 9th grade, but our friendship gradually went downhill due to an excessive amount of gossiping, compulsive lying, and controlling of others. After several more years of being friends with her after high school graduation, I decided to let her go. It was too much. One day, I came home from an errand, and I had about a dozen back-to-back messages on my answer machine; she accused me of avoiding her calls when I was merely out doing errands. I wasn’t as understanding then (that that type of behavior stems from a deep fear), so I was highly turned off by it. Although I forgave her in my own kind of way—by wishing her the best and not holding a grudge against her, I learned about true, uncondtional forgiveness when I was almost 40 years old. Anyway, almost 13 years later, I received a friend request from Facebook from her. I sat on it for little while I communicated with my true self. I found myself in a tug of war between what my ego self warning me, and what my true self was telling me. My ego self shouted, “OH HELL NO!!! Are you ssseriously contemplating whether or not you should confirm her friend request?? Did you not learn throughout those years that your relationship with her was not a healthy one? Wake up Bobbie! She contacted all the “Dansereau’s that she could get a hold of to hunt you down after you discontinued your friendship with her? Remember? Plus, what about all her other major dramas?!” My true self whispered to follow my heart, reminded me that everything happens for a perfect reason, and that every soul can change in every Moment of Now. I was also reminded of Neale Donald Walsch’s quote about responding with love rather than reacting from fear. I chose to give her another chance. After a few chats via Facebook, she asked for my phone number so that we could talk in person. I agreed, and a part of me was happy to reunite with an old friend. Although I had high hopes that things would be completely different this time around, a part of me intuitively sensed that there would still be some residue. Almost 3/4 of a 3 hour conversation went great; however, I sensed that I was being tested for the remaining 1/4…not by my friend, but by God. I had no problem listening to her telling me stories about issues related to her, but when she started her gossiping habit, I asked my true self to help speak through me and as me. Each time she made a sentence relating to what she heard about one of our old, high school classmates, “Can you believe that so and so did this and that,” I replied with a positive response like, “Well, that’s great! As long as he’s happy!” or “She could probably use an understanding friend like you,” or “He’s always been very free spirited; I’m glad that he openly expresses himself.” To my surprise, towards the end, my friend started talking more positive about our high school classmates that she reconnected with via Facebook or by phone. Shortly after our conversation, she sent me a message via Facebook asking me to come visit her for a few days so that we can catch up like old days. She even offered me a free ticket from her saved air miles. She also added a comment that it would make her feel really bad if I declined. I don’t think she had the intention of being manipulative, but it was a part of her that was very familiar to me. I politely declined because 1) my husband’s birthday was coming up soon, and I had planned a mini birthday party for him and his two, former soldiers and 2) I no longer allow others to manipulate or control me, whether its subtle or blatant, intentional or unintentional.
I was tying my bright colored shoe laces at another point, and someone (it felt like a first sergeant)  was watching me, and I felt pressured to hurry up, but I took my time.
To dream that you are tying your shoelaces suggest that you are getting ready for a challenge. Or you are ready to move forward with your goals or a decision.
I kept checking to make sure I had my key in my hand, and I saw a silver key in my hand.
To see a key in your dream symbolizes opportunities, access, control, secrets, freedom, knowledge or responsibilities. You may be locking away your own inner feelings and emotions. Or you are unlocking the answer to some problem.
Silver represents justice and purity. It is symbolic of some protective energy.
At one point, I was climbing up something that was part of I think an obstacle course.
To dream that you are going through an obstacle course symbolizes the hardships and difficulties that you are experiencing in your waking life. It represents the things that you must overcome in order to reach your goals. The elements in the obstacle course is analogous to the barriers and problems in your life.
Next thing you know, I was laying on top of a beam. As I looked down, I was so high above the ground that I was sure I would hurt myself if I chose to jump. I was going to go backwards, but I looked back and saw that the beam was high for a long ways. I then calmly said, “God, I’m scared.” (the first time that I ever spoke to God in my dreams; I shouted for Jesus in my dreams twice back in 2001, and wrote about my one week of spiritual dreams in my post “Dreams About Jesus”). As I looked down at the steel beam again, I noticed that it appeared as though it was covered with what appeared to be a tree bark that was coming off/shedding.

Note: I checked out a few different dream dictionaries, but I couldn’t find any  that would help me with the meaning for tree bark, since I had a feeling it had a symbolic significance to it. I then asked my true self for help, and I came upon the following section of the website below:

Cypress: Tree of Faithfulness (
“To be one with the trees is to know Life within your own spirit” – Chief Sequoia
Symbolic of “Strength & Adaptability”

The beauty of trees teaches humankind that everything is part of Creator. The trees, the air, the grass, the summit of the mountain, the thunder beings, the sky and rhythm of the sea, the stars and brightness of the moon … we are all interconnected.

The Cypress recalls the freedom of the forest and invites you to leave your attachments behind, settle in a quiet place and be free … Come press your palms into my bark and feel strength running through you. Be still and listen quietly. Being transplanted is possible, I can help you put down roots again and connect with all that is. Free yourself to the flow of Spirit … true holiness is right before your eyes.
Remember your physical, emotional and mental paths run parallel with your Spiritual path. If one is out of sync an imbalance will occur dominating the others. Become a “hollow bone,” opening up to Spirit becoming a conduit for your highest good.

I intuitively sensed that I was supposed to hold onto the tree bark and make my way down. Even though I was somewhat scared that the bark would tear, and I would go falling down, I chose to trust. To my surprise, I held onto the wide strip of bark, and it gently landed me onto the ground. I then softly said, “God, I love you so much.” I then continued to run downhill to try and catch up with my group. After I turned a corner, I saw a huge crowd of people (another run or marathon) heading towards me.

To dream that something or someone is running towards you refers to your willingness to confront any situation head on. You need to analyze the significance of what is running towards you. If you are the one running towards someone or something, then it refers to your determination to go after what you want. Consider who or what you are running towards for additional analysis.

I felt lost, so i asked this woman which way the others headed, and she pointed me to the right direction. She then told me that after I finish doing my laundry, I was to head towards the range, which wasn’t music to my ears. I ran towards the crowd, but on the left side of them. I then saw clothes being washed in a washing machine at one point.

To dream that you are at a shooting range symbolizes your outlet for your aggression and anger. You need to express your frustrations and negative feelings in a safe and constructive way. Alternatively, the dream refers to your determination and dedication. You are zeroing in on your goal.

To see or use a washing machine in your dream suggests that you need to resolve issues of the past in order to be able to make a clean, new start for yourself.

My interpretation of my dream:

I have the ‘ability to adapt to most any situations/I fit in with anybody and anywhere’ (symbolized by the keychain) because my true self is beside me/with me/as me/cooperating with me (symbolized by the other being running with me).

I AM channeling my intense energy by releasing my ‘heated emotions’ and Being passion by giving (as my true self/symbolized by the color black) unconditional love and a sense of security (symbolized by the fleece) to ‘those relationships where my physical self is getting burned’ (symbolized by feeling hot) from their negativity.

I AM no longer ‘distancing myself from my feelings’ (especially my ego self’s judgment towards my shadow selves/those who are habitually negative/suffering from not remembering their true selves), and ‘isolating myself from others’; but rather, I AM facing my shadow aspects of me, reflected by others, and choosing to Be more understanding, empathetic, compassionate, forgiving, accepting, embracing and unconditionally loving.

As I heal…they heal, and as they heal…I heal, since we are One (relating to my old, high school friend and others in my life who are currently “stuck” in their habitual negativity).

I AM Being assertive to my ‘approach to solving my problems’ (symbolized by the two layers of long sleeve shirts that I was wearing) by setting solid and healthy boundaries (i.e., not allowing myself to be taken advantage of, manipulated, or controlled with self-respect and self-love).

I AM ‘getting ready for a challenge…ready to move forward with my goals or a decision’ (symbolized by tying my shoes).

I AM ‘opportunities, access, control, secrets, freedom, knowledge or responsibilities’; I AM ‘unlocking the answers to some problems’ (symbolized by the key in my hand).

I AM ‘justice, purity and protective energy’ (symbolized by the color silver–key).

I may be ‘experiencing hardships and difficulties in my waking life, but it represents the things that I must overcome in order to reach my goals’ (symbolized by the obstacle course).

I AM choosing to trust and fall in love with God (symbolized by God helping me to safely reach the ground using a tree bark, after I calmly told him that I was scared of being so high above the ground).

I AM like a ‘Tree of Faithfulness’ (symbolized by the tree bark): ‘I press my palms into your (God’s) bark and feel strength running through me. I AM still and listening quietly. Being transplanted is possible, and you (God) are helping me put down roots again and connect with all that is. I AM Freeing myself to the flow of Spirit … true holiness is right before my eyes.’ I AM ‘Remembering my physical, emotional and mental paths run parallel with my Spiritual path. If one is out of sync an imbalance will occur dominating the others.’ I AM ‘Becoming a “hollow bone,” opening up to Spirit becoming a conduit for my highest good.’

I AM ‘willing to confront any situation head on’, to include embracing everything and everyone who shows up in my life, since my higher aspects of me drew them to me for my individual and collective soul growth; I AM determined to experience with my true self whatever my heart desires for everyone’s highest good (symbolized by me running towards the crowd of people).

I AM ‘determination and dedication’, and I AM ‘zeroing in on my goals’, to include serving humanity—continuing to live as a positive example for others, Being Spirit’s unconditional love, and completing a dozen unfinished posts that I procrastinated on due to my lack of faith that they were inspired by God/Goddess/All That Is (symbolized by the shooting range).

I AM ‘resolving issues of the past in order to be able to make a clean, new start for myself’ (symbolized by the washing machine).
